Criw Cymraeg

Beth ydy Criw Cymraeg?

Criw Cymraeg is a team of Welsh enforcers encouraging the use of Welsh throughout the school. We meet on a weekly basis to think of new Gair/Ymadrodd Yr wythnos (word/phrase of the week) and to discuss the targets we have achieved and what we need to complete in each term.

We started the year with the whole school completing a questionnaire. From that we were able to work out where to head with developing our Welsh in Ysgol Y Waun. Here is a list of the things we have completed so far:
  • Introduced a Welsh assembly (Gwasanaeth Cymraeg)
  • Tocyn Iaiths in each class
  • Ddraig Coch's sent home in each class every week to spend time and promote Welsh
  • Gair/Ymadrodd yr wythnos
  • Welsh prayers everyday
  • Learnt some new Welsh songs
  • Welsh learning walk to look at displays
  • We all took part in Wythnos Cymraeg completing activties and entering competitions which our parents were invited in to see.
  • Created Welsh posters
  • Written a peice for the termly newsletter
Next this is what we need to do:
  • Look at the Welsh apps we have and try and spend some time using them to promote Welsh
  • Look at what other welsh apps we can introduce
  • Complete an audit of Welsh books and timetable guided reading in Welsh into each class
  • Continue to add Welsh onto every display in every classroom and area inside/outside the school
  • Continue to write/update the termly newsletter
Here are some of the Welsh songs we have been learning in our Gwasanaeth Cymraeg
